History

The Crawdads have been around since at least the early 1980's, probably longer.  The team predates the name, which started being used in ?? (before 1984).  The Crawdads have been in every single C league since at least 1984, an honor shared with only one other team (Wild Turkeys).

The Crawdads in a couple of scattered years went by IPL Crawdads, for the Image Processing Lab.  We have historically been associated with IPL and what is currently Section 388, and that's where most of the players come from.  However, that is by no means exclusive, and we welcome players from anywhere.

In the early 80's there were two, and once even three, Crawdads teams, in different leagues (B, C, and once D, although in one year, it looks like there were two in the C league).  This site deals only with the C-league incarnation of the team, as it is the only one left.

T-shirts

There have been 3 different T-shirt designs over the years.  The first was white with blue sleeves, and a red "IPL Crawdads" with a logo in the center.  Orders were placed in 1984 and 1985, possibly earlier.

The second T-shirt was light gray, with a small red logo in the upper left corner.  This was ordered in 1987 and again in 1989.

The current design was ordered in 200? (2006, maybe??).  It is royal blue with the Crawdads logo on the front and Crustaceans Unleashed on the back, both in yellow.  The current colors almost certainly have nothing to do with Gary Yagi's association with UCLA...

The logos were all designed and drawn by Gary Yagi.  Other examples of his artwork can be found in Graphics.
